Study Abroad

An average of 650 Richmond students study, intern, or conduct research abroad each year. The University has over 75 study abroad programs in more than 35 countries.

We encourage Healthcare Studies (HCS) students to learn firsthand about international healthcare issues and systems through programs such as the SSIR (Sophomore Scholars in Residence) in Global Health, Medical Humanities, and Human Rights; faculty-led summer study abroad; and semester and year-long study abroad programs. Studying abroad in a program that is relevant to the HCS curriculum is an excellent way for students to set themselves apart.

Recommended Programs for Healthcare and Society Students

Below is a list of programs that the HCS program recommends for receiving healthcare and society transfer credit. Students have the option to apply for any study abroad program offered by the University but we have found the list below to be the best fit for the HCS major and minor. To further explore these and other programs, including summer programs, internships, and semester programs in other locations, as well learn more about financial aid, scholarships, and application procedures, visit the Office of International Education.
